Andrea went on to become a celebrated songwriter behind some of the most influential R&B hits of the 1990s, including En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go (Love)", Monica’s “Before You Walk Out of My Life", and SWV’s “You’re the One", all of which reached the Billboard Top 10. “Don’t Let Go (Love)" climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. After establishing herself as a sought-after songwriter, Andrea launched her own recording career, releasing her debut single “The Best of Me" in 1998. She also earned writing credits for artists including Tony Braxton, Leona Lewis, and Jennifer Hudson. “Tears I’ve Cried" was recorded in 1988 in a private studio setting and was written by Andrea Martin, Sheppard Solomon, and Thomas Vincze. The track features background vocals by members of the Poindexter Brothers, known for penning the 1971 R&B classic “Thin Line Between Love and Hate". Andrea Martin passed away on September 27, 2021, in New York City at the age of 49. Her legacy lives on through the enduring impact of the songs she created.
