An Acoustic Monday

Representing the alternative 519 scene, An Acoustic Monday sure has brought a stir to the local music stream. Coming from an area consumed with hardcore rock being the mainstream for local bands, having an Acoustic / Techno / Experimental band sure has turned a few heads. Band members include Brandon Deline, Zac Hertel, and Ryan Chappell. The musical inspiration derives from The Beatles, Jack's Mannequin, All Time Low, Pink Floyd, and Secondhand Serenade.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
An Acoustic Monday started out as a solo side project when front man Brandon Deline was in Dressed to the Nines. Upon the breakup of Dressed to the Nines, the solo project became a fulltime band for Brandon. After the addition of Eavan Kennah (lead guitar/backup vocals), the band’s first CD “Eavan’s Basement” was released, including 14 tracks including covers, skits and comedy songs. Shortly after the first release, Luke Cecile of Brandon’s former band joined, playing guitar and singing. It wasn’t long after that when the cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” was released as a single EP, and the band started getting recognition for the acoustic playoff of the pop/RNB song. The then 3-piece band did not last long, and the band went back to being a solo project. Brandon made his way through local shows playing covers, which can be heard on various live solo CD’s like “Live @ Harrowstock (09/21/07)”, and selected tracks off of “Sans People”. Not too long after playing at Harrowstock 2007, Zac Hertel joined the band as a friend of Brandon's from music class. They played a few shows as either dual piano and both singing, or guitar and piano. After playing at a talent show, they met with Ryan Chappell, who offered to fill in at a show, and sure enough, he fit right in. Now the band is locally known, working on their first real demo, and well off into where they want to be.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play locally, a good 50 km in any direction. Minus to the east, because that's a river. Drums don't sound good in the river. Lots of local shows are fun to play and be able to interact with cool people.
Your musical influences
The Beatles, Jack's Mannequin, All Time Low, Pink Floyd, and Secondhand Serenade. We like everything. At practices we play rock, pop, techno, alternative, jazz, psychadelic, blues, and more.
What equipment do you use?
Brandon - 1982 12-String Washburn Acoustic Guitar, Digitech RP300A Multi-Effects Pedal, Dean Markley Acoustic Pickup Ryan - Too many drums to list haha. Zac - Casio CT-770 Keyboard, and an Apex AFP1 Sustain Pedal.
Anything else?
We love people who love us, and occasionally people who hate us too! We make an effort to reply to everyone who tries to get in touch with us, so don't be strangers, we'd love to meed you.
