A Modest Proposal

Hello. We are A Modest Proposal. Hmmmm introduction eh? I'm Neil, that's Alex over there, George is behind him, Dan is to my right, and Trevor is God knows where. I sing, Alex basses, George and Dan guitar, and Trevor keeps da beat. Remember, eat babies.
A Modest Proposal is the brain child of two garage type bands from Westerville, Ohio. George Daily (ryhytm guitar) and Trevor Nicholson (percussion), were members of Sonic Fatigue, Westerville North favorites and Battle of the Bands runner up. Dan Elliot (lead guitar), Alex Aeschbury (bass), and Neil Baum (vocals) were members of Tip 86 who spawned such hits as "No Inspiration" and "NASCAR". Unfortunatly Tip 86 never could get any fans and broke up. But then in the summer of 2003 a superband comprised of the brightest muscians in the class of 2005 was formed and they were called... well they didn't really have a name for quite some time. They practiced relentlessly for days on end to become a tight knit musical force, so that all would cower at their greatness. The band finally got a name to be put with their musical stylings one hot day in August. While researching for an Honors English summer project Aeschbury came across a peculiar piece of literature: A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift. A witty and satirical piece poking fun at the famines and poverty in Ireland. Swift proposed that the children of poor mothers should be nurished for one year and then sold to be eaten and used for clothing. A very strange yet compelling essay that inspired the band named after it. So bearing a new name and new vigor the band praticed on and prepared for their tour of Westerville consisting of various parties at Billy Ridgway's house including a Pimps and Ho's party, and the album release for When Tricycles Attack. At both of these events A Modest Proposal rocked hard, almost too hard, enraging members of WTA and they're loyal group of fans, "the cult". But some of the cult members became "cultured" and converted to wonderful spectacular fans of AMP. In October the band recorded and gave away copies of their smash hit "Tuesday" and Westerville North responded with a resounding "WE LOVE A MODEST PROPOSAL". The band recently re-recorded tuesday and an instrumental track "Tommorow is Yesterday's Today". When asked what the thought of the 6 minute instrumental Dan Elliot commented, "The 'D' Song is basically just a jam session for us, every time, it gets more unique and fun to play". That single will be on shelves and in CD players of teenagers soon. The band's last event was a show at Midgard Comics, a freqent hangout spot for punks and punk rawkers alike. Also on the bill that night were Toledo favorites After Alice and Wellington a popular band from Bexley High School. All of the bands played (in this reporters opinon) an unorigional style of anthem pop punk comparable to Good Charlotte and Blink 182. A modest Propsal came and did something different that night. They had a respectable choice of cover songs, played a mix of melodic hardcore, punk, rock and roll, and psychodelic rock origionals, and most importantly they rocked out. The midgard faithful were not happy with this and one of the punkers with his (stupid) trucker hat even shouted out "You guys suck". You Know something kid, YOU SUCK. A Modest Proposal plays an original brand of music that none of the members can describe themselves. Look for bright things from this band in the future. You never know where these talented high schoolers may end up.
We play live at various parties around Da Ville area and at Midgard one time, but I don't know about that place. We love it, it's fantastic up there in front of the people and when they're loving it, you're loving it, you know?
