Life has a funny way of intertwining the paths of those from even the most distant of places. Coming from literally the far corners of the United States, the members of Amnesty Letters have found their common ground with a solid belief in the power that a song can hold in changing people's hearts, and a passion to communicate this belief.
Jacob, Aaron, Seth, Katie, and John formed Amnesty Letters at a small college in southern Illinois with a penchant for producing gifted musicians. It is from this setting that the five members seek to combat preconceived ideas and prejudices with their ambient albeit passionate brand of music.
With influences ranging from U2 to At The Drive-In, Amnesty letters strives to create meaningful music with soaring melodies and anthemic choruses. Songs of love and faith are abundant and express the spiritual desire of the band. "A lot of the lyrics focus on restoring the Church to be the Church that it's supposed to be," says Lead Singer and main lyricist Jacob. It is with this in mind that the fivesome not only desire to lead people closer to God but also desire to be relevant to their surrounding culture. "We don't want to add to a subculture that runs from the pressing issues of our times," adds guitarist John, "we want to get out there and share about the hope and love of a Jesus who permeates all boundaries and prejudices."Band/artist history
