The band is me, Marlon Carbone. But, every one of my songs features a friend of mine playing an instrument or singing. I have a VERY low boredom threshold. So, I write in every genre of music. You should be able to find a very eclectic mix of rock tunes, a few tunes not of the rock genre, and a few tunes not categorizable. If you are listening to a song you don't particularly care for... try another. I guarantee it won't be like the last one. If you still don't find anything, just go to http://www.MerJermusiK.Com for my more current stuff.
Band/artist history
I was born at a very early age... in the hospital... 'cause my mother was there and I wanted to be close to her.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I do not play live very much. I played live for many years and grew to dislike it very much. In my studio one unit of effort produces one unit of product. In a band setting it may take 500+ units of effort to produce one unit of product. Now I'm tinkering with a Red Dirt Band named Crossing Country. I figure Country is the next frontier for a 7 string bassist.
Your musical influences
I cut my musical teeth on bands like Rush and Yes. Later fell in love with Stuart Hamm and Stanley Clark. Now I listen to anything from Poe to Fiona Apple to Skunk Anansie to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
What equipment do you use?
I have Sonar, SoundForge, and tons of plug-ins. My main instrument is a Conklin Sidewinder 7-string bass. However I also have a Dean 7-string guitar (heavily modified); a Dean Custom made 7 string acoustic; a Mr. Potato (no joke) 7 string electric; a Michael Kelly 5 string, acoustic, fretless bass; a bouzouki I bought in Greece; and many keyboards. For amps and pre's I have a Behringer Shark, a Groove Tube Studio Bass pre, a Peavey Bam 210, a Digitech RP-200, a Digitech RB-200, and (my newest toy) a Behringer V-Amp (upgraded to ver. 2.1.1) I use many mics and use the Antares Microphone Modeler to get the sounds I want.
Anything else?
My friends use korg analog keys, Ibanez 7-string guitars, POD pre's, Parker Guitars, Gibson Guitars, Fender Guitars, Mesa Boogie amps and pre's, Senheiser microphones... The list just goes on and on and on and on and on... (you get the point)
