Alter Ego (India)

"Hey guys, practice today, k ?" "Who's bringin the beer ?" Ahem. Yes, we are Alter Ego and we're nuts. positively psychotic. we love our music, we love our alcohol and we abso-fuckin-lutely love playing live ! There's really not much to introduce you guys to. you'll hear of us very soon...we're every band you've seen go out smiling on stage, regardless of the crowd, the venue, whatever... music will always be a part of our life...and here are my nutty bandmates : Bala "wanna see my nose booger ?" Nair - vocals. he's the elderly statesman of the band. does uncharacteristic things when he's drunk..e.g. buying me beer. women dig him and he...err...digs them :p is patient enough to sift through my gory, angry lyrics and make sense out of them. influenced by Zack de la Rocha, Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley and James Hetfield Rohan "Isabhalla" Bhalla - guitars the speed demon himself...obsessed with Megadeth and tries to push us to play faster and faster until one of us collapses or slaps him in the head. his love for speed metal is rivalled only by his love for whisky. is currently working in a team with 9 women (bastard) and is influenced by Marty Friedman, Dave Mustaine, Yngwie Malmsteen and himself. Dushyant "korex" Ajwani - guitars known for his strange kinds of substance abuse and hanky collection, his solos bring out your innermost emotions (we cry). he's so good, he can insert a paul gilbert solo in the middle of an RATM song (do that agin and we'll kill you) currently obsessed with RATM, his influences are Paul Gilbert, Eddie Van Halen and the Maiden trio. Ajay "vodka shot" Nair - guitars Bala's bro...hopefully they both remember that. he's the innovator, the guys who brings the weirdest, craziest and coolest riffs to our self comps. doesn't lift his amp at all...supposedly he has a back problem..fucker ! influenced by Dimebag Darrell, Tom Morello and Paul Gilbert. Ram "Tubbs" Vaidyanathan - bass yes, that's me and since i'm writing this, all you get to hear is that i rock. love jumping around on stage..despite my excess weight..and i am the butt of all jokes..seeing as i'm the only jobless one writin all this. my influences are Flea, Tim Commerford, Ryan Martinie and Dimebag :) Proteek 'PC' De - drums the PC says it all...he's da man ! the only one in the group with a steady girl (do i hear whips ???) never keep him around when ure smokin up or drinkin...he'll make u laugh so hard, you'll probably self-destruct ! he's incredibly loud on the drums...will have to fix that. influenced by nicko mcbrain (why ?????), Brad Wilk, Lars Ulrich and Vinnie Paul
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Formerly known as The Struggle Within they performed at all inter college competitions, be it rock or western music, along with a host of other shows including Friends of Music and a charity rock show called Escape 2003 where they shared the stage with the likes of Nakshatra, Soundcheck 42 e.t.c. They also played at the rock competition organized by Hindustan Times The Youth Nexus 2002. Performing and Winning are two sides of the same coin and while they did play at innumerous competitions they also won their fair share of the same. Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
everywhere !! anywhere !!! we thrive on live gigs..there's something amazing about having a sea of people moshing and swaying to your music...the best fuckin' orgasm ever ! a special moment was at IT-BHU when we had a few sound problems and then a string broke on one of the guitars, resulting in a delay. we endured a lot of jeering from the crowd and when we finally exploded on stage with RATM's 'bulls on parade', the crowd went ballistic !
