Altered State
You're probably asking yourself "Who is Altered State?" Altered State is a local metal/punk band in Milwaukie, Oregon. The band consists of four members:
Josh Henderson (15): Guitar
Vlad Gayko (18): Guitar
Seth Torpey (16): Bass Guitar
Jared Keltz (17): Drums
Altered State is an instrumental band but they're open to a willing vocalist.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Altered State was originally formed under the name Some Kind Of Hero by Josh, Jared, and former bassist Adrian. Later on Adrian was forced to leave the band, and Seth joined up to fill the gap. From that point on they started pumping out emo/pop-punk music and covers, trying to get a feel for the kind of music they wanted to continue to play. A few months later, Vlad was added to the band to bring in an extra guitar, which also introduced the band to heavy metal. This didn't seem to fit with the group though, and Vlad was removed from the roster. Altered State (renamed by Vlad) continued to play a mixture of pop-punk and classic rock until they discovered a new love for metal music. With this new taste came the return of former guitarist Vlad Gayko, and the new sound for Altered State. Altered State now writes countless songs on a day to day basis, and performs covers of bands including: Sum 41, Metallica, AC/DC, and others. Their combination of metal, punk, and classic rock has received a warm welcome from their fans, and they will continue to do all they can to entertain the masses.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We've only played a couple of places honestly. We've played a local church as a "get your name out" idea, and we've played the talent show at our local high school. We love playing live. The fear of getting out in front of a big crowd just compells you to play your best. The best of our two performances thus far would have to be the talent show. We got great feedback from that. It was a wonderful night to perform.
