Alpha Omega (Aus)
Alpha Omega is a sonic entity composed of four (4) carbon-based life forms, the molecular structure of whom shall not be discussed here, hailing from a planet of unknown origins.
After being tried for their music exceeding ten (10) on the psychedelometer by the Vortigern council (verdict: guilty), Alpha Omega relocated their base of operations to a small planet in the eastern spiral arm of the galaxy (quaintly known to the inhabitants as - Earth). This decision was made, not, as some pundits have suggested, for fear of the Vortigern light beings, but rather for tax reasons.
Due to the rather nervous nature of the native beings of the planet in question, Alpha Omega cleverly constructed a cover story to enable them to successfully settle amongst the populace without causing undue attention.
Alpha Omega is a Brisbane, Australia - based Space Rock musical entity.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The band was formed in 1998 following discussions between Paul and Max to fill what they perceived as a "void" in the local music scene. They saw a distinct lack of any psychedelic music, let alone and of the heavier more science fiction oriented strand known as Space Rock. After an audition was held Michael Mathias (guitar/vocals) and Steve ? (drums) joined the band. Some time was spent rehearsing - band names were bandied about - String Theory being one of the possibilities.
This line-up disintegrated after some time due to musical differences, and the band underwent a Hiatus for some time, Paul and Max still collaborating on strange auditory noises.
After a while, somewhere in 1999, one of the people who attended the original rehearsal auditioning as a vocalist, Stuart Hodgson, contacted us mentioning he had got a new set of drums and was ready to rock! This core line-up has lasted to this day. Between then an now, several others have guested with the band, namely Misbah Khokhar doing vocals and space whisper, and Ivan Anderson on the Groovebox.
During the time since Stuart joined the band, the band name went through several versions including The Electronic Mind Project, and several other less savoury titles, and was finally settled upon as Alpha Omega.
Alpha Omega are currently working on their second official album which should be released later in 2004.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes we are a live act, more so than a studio band. We generally play locally. We organised a Space Rock Event called Terra Australis in November 2002 which was recorded and available for free download from our band website.
