Al Mesa Music
My musical vibe is a blend of popular and nostalgic Rock, Country, Blues, Reggae, Jazz, and influences from cultures around the world.
My first music education came courtesy of my wela, who believed the best way to appreciate music was to sit me down for hours listening to Mariachi Ranchera records without leaving my chair, a method I now refer to as "Mexican Daycare."
Later, I was accepted into the music and sound engineering programs at Texas State, where I learned how to push a few buttons and occasionally make them do what I wanted. Add more than 40 years of writing, performing, recording, and playing live music across the planet, and you've got the rest of the story.
Born and raised in Texas with Mexican and Native American roots, my music naturally carries a touch of Latin flavor. Think bacon and eggs with salsa, you still know it's bacon and eggs, but it definitely wakes things up a bit. And like a good bowl of Texas chili, when I want the music spicy, I do my best to bring the heat.
