were "AllOneWord" and we are a 4 piece indie/alternative rock band. we all come from Rugby and love music :P
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Band history... well AllOneWord started life as Manaquin which consisted of James Grady, Jonny Shelton, Lewis Mac and Tom Hand. We hardly ever practised, it was something incredibly stupid like 3 practises in 6 months. James would just record it on his home studio, bring the cd one day and go through with us all. James left in March for, an apparently, "once in a life time opportunity", so then after a while Jonny quit as well temporarily, and was pissed off coz the band was the only reason he went out n spent 170quid on bass and amps etc, and from there the ends kind of split. When Lewis and Jonny went to see the Chili Peppers at Ricoh arena in July, they were "inspired" to make a band purely because the Chili's rocked. Over the summer months, the 3 (Tom, Jonny and Lewis) discussed ethier carrying on with Jonny on bass and introducing a new guitarist Ben Knowles, or get Jack Coleman on bass and Jonny going back to the first string instrument, guitar. We all felt we had reasons for choosing Jack on bass, and he really was the best decision *Jonnys opinon* because "He can do things on bass that i dreamed about doing". In Aug 2006, in the 2nd week Aug, the band came together and rehearsed songs from the old Manaquin and up to now, Jan 2007, new songs have been created and covers have been done by AllOneWord, enabling a longer set.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
(written 1st of april, 2007) Yeah we've had a few gigs around rugby but not for a while coz for the last 4-6 weeks we have been concentrating on recording a few preview tracks for sites like soundclick and myspace. but we would play if asked.
Your musical influences
Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Fratellis, Green day, Nivarna, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Blink 182, Razorlight.
What equipment do you use?
Jonny: Epiphone Special "Gibson" les paul junior, and 60 watt Vox Valvetronix amp
Tom:Fender Stratocaster and Marshall 100DFX amp
Jack:Crafter Cruiser Jazz Bass with a Behringer BXL1800 Ultrabass Bass Amp
Lewis:Performance Percussion drum kit, Zildjian ride, china and splash cymbals.
