Picture for song 'Merry-go-round' by artist 'Alligator Wine'

Merry-go-round Merry-go-round

A song about one man's town declining, (in his opinion), socially, and morally. Getting caught up in this idealistic merry-go-round becomes frustrating!

Alligator Wine... Soon to be back in action! You heard it right, All the original members have decided to give, what in my opinion was a good thing, another go! After a little over a year break we are finally starting to write and rehearse again and plan on being on the circuit mid summer or sooner. We, inout off time, have decided to add a 5th member to the band! Please welcome Kelly Collinson into the AW family!! Kelley will be playing acoustic guitar predominantly in AW and may venture into other instruments as needed... like conga's...um, ok Kelly? Alligator Wine is a progressive blues/rock, jam-band. We basically all listen to a wide variety of music...folk, metal, bluegrass, jazz, rock, blues, etc...As a band we try to incorporate these styles into our music when the mood strikes us. That seems to be how we evolved into a jam-band. One person feels the song a certain way and leads the rest of us into his world! It's a lot of fun, especially live,It can squeeze some of the best music out of a musician. Although, if yer not payin attention to the music as a whole, it can end up a train wreck.Greg Andreas
Band/artist history
There is just not enough room to go thru it all and i seriously doubt many care...if they do write me, I'll be holding my breath!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
At the moment we appear at open jams on occasion.
Your musical influences
We are a mixture of a lot of things, we are all of them, and somehow none of them specifically. AW's guitar players are very blues influenced which gives us a nice warm sound. However we were also both into the metal scene in the 80's which gives us an aggressive side. I grew up on bob Dylan, and Neil Young so we also have a folk side. DWC prefers "Black Sabath", Kelly is in to the grass roots jam scene and Sye took marching band in his early years, and was in a progressive metal band. We all listen to jazz, and bluegrass, as well as alternative once in a great while so it is hard to say what we are or arent. "moe." is a big influence on us as well as "Moses Guest", and "The Allmn Bros." some of our favorite bands are...Blues Traveler, Galactic, moe., Moses Guest, Grateful Dead, Ben Harper, Phish, Hendrix, S.R.V., Clapton, Wide spread Panic, Black Sabbath, Janes Addiction, Strunz and Farah, Keller Williams, SCI, Medeski Matin and Wood, Steve Kimmock, John McLaughlin Trio, and too many others to even fit here. (or at least I'm not going to).Greg Andreas
What equipment do you use?
The usual, guitars, drums, bass, mics, etc...Greg Andreas
Anything else?
We have a mandolin, and some congas wich we want to incorporate but have not yet done so very extensively. I would like to add keyboards or horns at some point but those types are hard to find. Maybe some percusio...real percussion with some serious equipment.Greg Andreas
