ALICIA'S GHOST (AES)
I am a solo artist in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. I am on various places like my own spaces, acidplanet, myspace, and so many others, I have a new album scheduled to be released on July 7th, 2007. Currently the recording, writing, production and other tasks are taking place to make this new CD album the best ever. AES Records With AES Pro Star Productions & AES Recording Studios are all to be contacted via the Author/Artist Unless otherwise noted.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
It all sort of just took on a life of its own and was already taking form even while I was still working with other artists and still quite active in the game. It was meant to be a solo project, which started sometime around the winter of 1999 as a means to independently create, compose, record, produce, release and promote my own style and personality after several years of creative and artistic differences that always led to my own frustration and disgust. I may not be as well known as I used to be, but that is because of my accident putting me in the wheelchair and out of the spotlight temporarily. I am of course, a solo artist, which means in my case, that I write everything and basically handle everything from the original thought to the finished product, all instruments, vocals, etc. and so on. On my first CD, I collaborated with one other person, S.E. Spelts, who was a guest who filled in on some additional vocal tracks. I am open to collaborations as well. I am open to collaborate with others on their work also. The new CD release may or may not have any collaboration at all or it may have several credits to mention. Time will tell.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I used to play live all over the place, sometimes several shows on the same date at more than one venue. I recently had an accident and have been in a wheelchair, so all I have been doing here recently is recording, producing, promotions and so on. I have been all over the USA, as well as overseas in Europe, etc. I have loved and still love every part of it. I always focused more on the music, show, performance type aspects more than the social or other aspects, which if left unchecked, could be distractions but with a little more focus and discipline it all balances out. One special moment was when I first started performing quite some time back, still new, young, inexperienced, etc. but I remember being the opening act and basically blew away this headline act and the audience demanded that I and this very scattered ensemble of a band come back on and perform encores until I just ran out of material and started playing repeated songs for the rest of the night. I was hooked on live performance ever since then. What a great self esteem boost that was. I won't mention the band, because I really like them and still look up to them so that would not be cool at all. I still don't know what happened to make that night turn out that way, but it did.
Your musical influences
Symphony X, Evergrey, Dream Theater, Power Symphony, Nightwish, Metal Church, Iron Maiden, Accept, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Beethoven, Sepultura, Slayer, Annihilator, Anthrax, so many more. I love and enjoy listening to almost every genre of music and can appreciate every style, very open minded, but honestly, I tend to lean more often than not toward progressive metal quite a bit more than any other genre. Symphony X is currently my favorite band.
What equipment do you use?
Without going into specifics right now, I'll just use some brands, because, like I said, I do all of the vocals as well as the instruments. Some are Fender, Peavey, Zoom, Alesis, and others which I will detail and credit on my new CD.
Anything else?
I welcome any additional help or advice, information, etc. from anyone who is able to provide it and I will do my best to do the same in return. Be sure to watch for the new Alicia's Ghost CD to be released on July 7th, 2007.
