Al Evans
I'm an Austin songwriter. My music is flavored by the Texas Hill Country, by country in general, by Guy Clark and Ray Wylie Hubbard and Townes Van Zandt and many other fine songwriters who aren't famous yet. There's a lot of sentiment and a little metaphysics, some picking and strumming, and a song that needs to get out.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Of the places I've played in the past couple of years, my favorites are Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas, Anderson Fair in Houston, and the Folk Club in Buxton, England. Each of these has a lot of musical history.
Your musical influences
Burl Ives, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, David Olney, Karen Abrahams, Tom Metcalf, and everyone I've ever shared songs with.
