well, i would tell you all about how i am a one-[wo]man band hailing from the wild metropolis of Youngsville, NC, however: 1. "one-[wo]man band" just might be the most corny thing i could imagine typing (i'm sick of hearing it, really. lets come up with a new cheesy slang for what i do!) 2. Youngsville is to redneck mecca what harlem is to thugville. No one here even knows what a metropolis is... 3. Finally, neither of these poor discriptions do more than make incoherant lines on a blueprint... an AUDitory blueprint, at that. another simile bites the dust. ok here are the basics: i write it, i play it, i sing it, i record it. then, i change it entirely, and re-do the process, but keep at least one element from the first draft. i continue doing this until im either sick of the song or satisfied. i typically have 3-4 versions of songs before i move on. then, apparently the next step is to make a collection of these songs and burn them onto cds, and then upload them on to sites such as this. the end. =)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
yes, i do. at least twice a week. plus random jams. and i have special moments all the time. i'm like a walking hallmark card. heh.
Your musical influences
nearly everyone on Sirius' Left of Center channel; the postal service; air; (js)bach; waterdeep; sarah MC-i-couldnt-spell-her-last-name-if-i-tried (particularly the mixed album); BJORK; queen adreena; mars volta;
What equipment do you use?
Korg Triton Studio LE 88-key; Seagull (Acoustic Guitar); Gibson Epiphone (The Les Paul Electric Guitar Rip-off); Samick (Electric Guitar); I also have a lovely microphone that i purchased from wal-mart. it prices in at a whooping $9.99--needless to say, i am saving up for a microphone that has slightly more ambition.
Anything else?
later this fall, i will have a poetry book being published. look out for details.
