Underglow Underglow
Groovy dub track with a twist of psychedelia. Choppy guitar lines work with funky percussion & a bulldozer driven bass guitar.
AKAHUM ï is David Unlimbo (guitar & synths), Lyndon Izzard (bass) & Zenga Bloem (vocals & percussion), who weave together trancey dub vibes with a cool, ethnic flavour. They generate thundering dance rhythms and complex soundscapes, completing the show with breathtaking original video projections. HIGH ENERGY DANCEFLOOR BUSTERS ... DREAMY DUB BRAIN MASSAGE!!!
Band/artist history
All tracks are written and produced by David, a consummate guitarist and sound engineer, who has worked on albums by Kim Wilde, Mari Wilson and the Wilsations, The Enid and Hawkwind and on live production for The Enid, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Solstice and Channel Zero (King Prawn) amongst others. David has played guitar with Jerry Marotta, Korai Orom and Dead Marines. In David's previous incarnation as UNLIMBO he produced six albums including Prahna Fish, Unlimbits and Nine Lives. He has played at hundreds of venues throughout Europe and gets positive reviews and radio plays all over the world. Glastonbury, Burg Herzburg, Megadog, Big Green and Guildford are amongst the dozens of festivals he has played.
Storming bass rhythms are provided by Lyndon Izzard, whose past credits include working with Stan Webb (Chicken Shack) and From The Hip. Lyndon has been playing with David since the early days of Unlimbo and can often be seen touring or guesting with Akahum in the UK and abroad. Ace percussionist, Zenga Bloem, is another long-serving collaborator, having toured extensively with Unlimbo and Akahum. Zenga was previously percussionist and front man for London-based Spicy Goat and can be spotted guesting with a variety of bands in London. Akahum is always honoured to have Lyndon and Zenga on side, both at live performances or in the studio.
Akahum was launched in Spring 2007 with a hugely successful tour in Germany and Belgium. Since then, they have been busy in the studio writing and recording but they also found the time and energy for a string of one-off gigs in the UK. They have recently returned from continental Europe after a 16-date tour of Germany and Holland.
Akahum's latest album, Electwistery, was released on the Worldvenue label and is available to buy at www.akahum.com.
They are currently booking UK dates for March/April 2008 and further tours of Holland, Germany, Belgium and France are in the pipeline for late spring and autumn 2008.
