Aion, formed in 2003, brings to life a coupling of organic world beats with the sterility of industrial music, creating a throbbing life force and energy in the pounding rhythm.
Band/artist history
Aion was created in 2003 by me, Meg Guy. After several failed attempts at joining a sucessful band, I decided it was high time I be at the healm of my own project to go in the the direction I chose, influenced by my own eclectic tastes. I was trained early in my childhood in classical piano and violin, and have won several prestigious awards for my ability in both instruments. Since I graduated from high school in 1999, I have taken up the instruments as hobby. Combining my knowledge in music with professional programs such as Reason v2.5, I have created a hybrid of tribal beats (an homage to my own tribal roots -Scottish - with a respect for all tribal patterns in the world) with crunchy industrial synths. With this marriage, I created a sound unique to industrial/electronic music, truly deserving of the project's name - Aion - Greek for "the beginning of ages".
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I would like to play live, eventually. I still have to get up the guts to play alone, which is something I only did when I was young and with my violin. And I was always very nervous.
Your musical influences
Aion's music is a direct reflection of my eclectic tastes. I listens primarily to electronica, from The Chemical Brothers to BT. I also listen to industrial music, such as Feindflug, God Module, and Skinny Puppy. I like powernoise as well, such as Winterkälte, Marita Shreck, and Mimetic. I adore artists like Tom Waits and Laurie Anderson, and am constantly listening to groups like Radiohead, Belle and Sebastian, and Peter Gabriel
What equipment do you use?
As of now, I am exclusive to Reason v. 2.5 for all of my creating, and Acid Pro v 4.0 for layout and sound levels.
