Instrumental Rock

The Aéropostale is an trio from Montreal that merges dub bass pulses, precise rock drumming, jazz atmospheres, drunken no-wave guitars and broken 80's synths.
Band/artist history
Back in 2001, a day prior to the twin tower catastrophe, the members of the Aeropostale decide to play together for the first time... This first recorded jam contained so many good moments that the trio decided to play togheter more often. This process slowly lead them to build a repertoire of aventurous music, themes and songs. The first songs are recorded in the summer of 2002 and were released as an album called "A Mais Rapida" in december 2003. Now, in 2004, the band is getting ready to record its second album which will state clearly which way they are heading experimentally and sonically.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
L'Aeropostale live shows are always an event. You can catch them in a place called the "Va-et-Vient", which is a small café in the heart of St-Henri in Montréal.
Your musical influences
The main lines of inspirations for the Aéropostale as of july 2004 are: 80's funk rap, ragga, ambient rock, afrobeat, beatnik poetry records, early 80's synth music, krautrock and no-wave. If you really need some names, here are some: Bill Laswell, Manu Dibango, Sonic Youth, Tortoise, Stereolab, Pan Sonic, the Neptunes, TV on the Radio, The Rapture, Add N to X, Jim Black, Led Zeppelin, The Sea and Cake, Chromeo, Mike Patton, Grandmaster Flash, the Stooges, Isaac Hayes, Kyuss, King Crimson, Lee Scratch Perry, Fudge Tunnel, Pavement, Kraftwerk, Rush, Trans Am, Noir Désir, James Brown, Dr.Dre, Lou Reed, Serge Gainsbourg and some german freaks such as Can and Neu. The ultimate goal for the Aéropostale would be to be able to integrate all of this into a coherent whole...
What equipment do you use?
- Cort bass - The amazing ever expanding drum kit - A cheap japanese guitar with a broken string - An old beaten Korg Poly 800 - Yamaha DX-7 - various guitar pedals to get textures through a bass amp...
