Acrid Semblance
The year was 2001 when freshly out-of-schools Anubhav and Kshitish, alongwith Vikas started making music and head out with an idea of making songs with the prime focus on melody and everything else finding its way in the right spots slowly but steadily.
With IIT Delhi's Blitzkrieg being the band's first target in September 2002, the trio started working on making music. With the arrival of Ashim on drums and Chiranjeev on bass, and Anubhav deciding to fill in as a stand-by vocalist, the band line-up was complete, giving birth to Acrid Semblance.
Acrid Semblance impressed many at their first performance at Blitzkrieg 2002 prelims. ALthough the band failed to reach the bigger stage, the word was spread, and Acrid Semblance went on to become Delhi's pioneering metal band.
With a handful of material, Acrid Semblance entered the studio to record their 5-song EP, titled Soul Corrosion. Soul Corrosion spread Acrid's potential throughout the country, remunerating in the form of rave reviews, and a few gigs that proved as stepping stones for what was to lie ahead. The biggest break in this regard was when Acrid was invited to open for Zero in their gig at The Mezz. Getting the first taste of big stage and expectations, Acrid left everyone gawking and opened the doors for the upward progression, the first of which being, Acrid being a part of Domination - The Deathfest 2003. Acrid enthralled crowds at both Mumbai and Bangalore, quenching the metalheads' thirst for metal, and leaving them asking for more.
Acrid spent the remaining part of 2003/early 2004 performing at a number of places, including IIT Delhi Blitzkrieg, BITS Pilani Rocktaves, DCE, NSIT Avalanche, SPA, Amitech etc. Acrid was again invited to Mumbai to play at Resurrection. The attendance broke all previous records at Razz Rhinos, Mumbai, summing up to a total of around 425 people.
Come September 2004, Acrid decided to put an end to participating in college rock competitions, with IIT Delhi Blitzkrieg 2004 being their last attempt. A lot of questions were raised following their elimination from the prelims itself...but the rest is history - and so were the competitions. Acrid followed up with Break Neck Fest and Metal Attack - both shows dedicated to hardcore metalheads - and put an end to the 2004 season, and went back to recording.
The future sees Acrid Semblance performing at The Great Indian Rock 2005 - the biggest rock/metal event in the country, and ofcourse, and more high energy packed "Acrid metal" in the form of more gigs and their next release slated for a mid-2005.
