Their mix of traditional and contemporary blues music has an original sound that always fills the dance floor. Acme plays originals and covers going back through the history of blues music. If you like Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, Tommy Castro, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, then youll be rockin' when ACME Blues Company comes to your town! Acme Blues Company is a BMI artist.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Waverly Milor -- Harp & Lead Vocals Wave brings 20 plus years experience as a singer and front man to ACMEs rockin blues sound. In addition to playing harp for ACME, he is the lyricist for ACMEs wide range of originals. Wave is an active member of the DC Blues Society and can be found around town sitting in with bands such as Blues on Board, Daryl Davis Band and Skyla Burrell Blues Band. An admitted blues junkie, Wave has jammed in such cities as Pittsburgh, Asheville & Wilmington, NC, Portland (OR) and in Copenhagen, Denmark. In Oct. 2005, Wave performed at the 25th Annual King Biscuit Blues Festival with Richard Johnston in West Helena, Arkansas. Steve Remy -- Guitar & Vocals Steve is one of the founding members of ABC and writes the music for most of ACME's originals. Steve's got over 25 years experience playing guitar (both lead and rhythm) for several bands from Phoenix, Arizona to Washington DC to the Eastern Shore of Southern Delaware. Steve brings the blues alive with his fiery licks, and in his playing, you can hear influences of Freddie King, Albert Collins, Tommy Castro, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan just to name a few. Steve plays from his heart and soul. Chris Ruckman -- Drums Chris, a.k.a. Topher, has performed with CMLC, the Velvet Alley Blues Band, the Red Brown and Blues and others. Topher knows how to sound good, and he ought to because he has a PhD in acoustical engineering. (Yes, really.) His influences include Vinnie Colaiuta, Chester Thompson and Billy Lee Lewis. Topher has been playing drums since he was 8 weeks old. (No, not really.) Before playing, he always turns his cymbals so the Zildjian logo is facing towards him, but they never stay that way. Topher is the Vice Commodore of the Mount Vernon Yacht Club. (Yes, really.) Steve "Wolf" Crescenze -- Bass Guitar & Vocals Steve started playing bass in the DC area in the 1960s, most notably touring with Sassafras Tea. His playing and love of the blues began in the late 60's with such influences as B.B.King, Paul Butterfield, John Mayall, Eric Clapton and Cream. Recently, Wolf has performed with Big Boy Little, Linwood Taylor, Clarence The Bluesman Turner, The Skyla Burrell Band, One Bad Jack and DrMove.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We love playing in and around the Washington DC area at venues like Bohemian Caverns, Bangkok Blues Thai Restaurant, B & G Tavern and Frisco Grille. We had the incredible opportunity to have the legendary Pinetop Perkins sit in with us at Bangkok Blues. Pinteop played for nearly 90 minutes with us and commented "Them boys can play!"
Your musical influences
ACME has a broad range of musical influences. We cover the music of artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert Collins, BB King to Los Lobos, The Blasters, The Black Keys and The Paladins. Members of the band cite Junior Kimbrough, RL Burnside, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Howlin Wolf and Paul Butterfield as primary influences. Our originals are as diverse as our choice of cover tunes. From the deep, slow blues of "You Ain't The First, to the rhumba beat of "Sugar Mama" and the hard jamming "Comin' and Goin" our original compositions have their roots in traditional blues, but reflect our wide range of interests and influences.

Anything else?
Our new CD was released July 21, 2006. From Black Cat CD" "The band's latest release, feauturing 12 original tracks, aptly entitled "I Think I Made It," shows that Acme Blues Company's songs are as diverse as its members. From the wrenching emotion of "No Shortage of the Blues" to the hard-driving "A Little Somethin' Somethin'" to the self-deprecating humor of failed pick-up lines in "Hey Baby", this collection throws some interesting spins into the traditional blues sound. Milor's soulful vocals and Remy's articulate, masterful guitar work bring the blues to life by combining a modern feel with a traditional blues foundation. With the release of their full-length studio compilation, fans around the world are discovering what blues legend Pinetop Perkins said after a recent jam with Acme Blues Company:"Them boys can play!" The 12-track CD includes a guest appearance from DC-based keyboard hero Daryl Davis (Muddy Waters Legendary Blues Band; Chuck Berry; Cephas & Wiggins) as well as guitarists Mike Westcott and Robert Hahn.
