I have been writing music for Singapore musical theatre from 1995. My first musical was Big Bang!, and this was followed with other musicals including Yum Sing!, Temptations, The Magic Paintbrush, Song of the Whale, Exodus, Blue Willow House, and School House Rockz. Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
My first musical, Big Bang! was staged in 1995. Collaborators for this musical were Desmond Moey and Iskandar Ismail. Since then I have written and staged 19 musicals, including The Magic Paintbrush, Song of the Whale, Exodus, and Sayang. The music arranger for these musicals was Bang Wenfu. I have also written a TV musical called School House Rockz with Desmond Moey and Jack Ho. August Lum and Michael Koh arranged the music for this production.
Your musical influences
I have many influences, including Stephen Sondheim, Schonberg and Boublil, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lerner and Loewe.
What equipment do you use?
Yamaha keyboard, Cakewalk Sonar 6.
