Ziggy Keels

Baltimore native Ziggy grew up in the inner city with the passion for beat boxing as a child. During his last two years of high school he took that passion and focused it on becoming a DJ. After two years of performing at family gatherings and small private parties Ziggy wanted more. In 2006, he re-united with his younger brother and his quest to become a producer was underway. Ziggy brings emotions into his melodies to paint a story with his banging drums in order to provide a unique & unorthodox style to music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In 2006, Ziggy Keels was discovered by his younger brother Disrespecktful beatboxing and humming beats to himself. Disrespektful being an up & coming underground rap artist saw his brother had potiential, and the group BLE was formed. From that plato Ziggy Realized the possiblities and formed Ziggy Beats. Ziggy Beats first project is Disrespektful's first solo mixtape under the BLE mark.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have not performed anything live in roughly 7 years. The majority of my first live perfomances were in my high school jazz ensemble, every performance after that was during my few years as a local DJ.
Your musical influences
I would have to say my greatest musical influences are Timberland, Kanye West, and several other producers that are way ahead of the game. They're a major influence because of the way they use instrumentation to bring sounds and ideas to tracks where most people would be apprehensive about doing.
What equipment do you use?
At the current moment I am using a basic computer setup with midi & audio interfaces, and running Reason 5/Record 1.5 & FL Studio 10......I'm looking to try using Cubase, Sonar, & Pro Tools in the near future.
Anything else?
I am growing as an artist, but just like Rome was not built in one day, it's going to take time for my growth & experience to come. No one does everything alone; even the professional have assistants. I need all the help I can get. I need for people to look through my webpages; listen to my tracks; make suggestions; and leave comments; because at the end of the day; if there is no fanbase or any type of publicity no matter how small, then that leaves a road leading nowhere.
