I was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. My first poem was constructed at just age 5, after freestyling for the first time with my uncle Bishop (Roman Bishop) in my auntie's basement. I was so young I had nothing to speak on besides my cousin going upstairs to get juice. For something so minuscule, it was a big deal for me. My first written piece consisted of advanced descriptions of my desire to be a police officer and use my position for personal gain. I began to understand more about the world than what I knew at the time, and since then my craft changed. Age 7 I wrote my second piece, which I would consider a rap, with the help of my mom, Nicey Miller. Ever since the 2nd grade, I yearned for an easier way to explain how I felt to my elders. Aside from writing letters or feeling like I was holding seminars. I began playing piano, accordion and drums at age 7 and fell for it. Not many of my elders could take me serious, so I put my feelings on paper and my paper to a beat. Among my grammar school days, my only supporters were few family members and close friends plus a few teachers. Poetry was always an interest of mine due to how one could portray visualizations, wisdom and cadence all in one to soothe the soul. I wanted to do the same as my favorite artists, and that was to share my story and present a message. High School was my peak as far as my music exposure went. I created a foundation named youngKingzENT. with 3 of my brothers at the same time I created a name for myself (YoungMarq). I began making beats at 14, created youngKingz at 15, and began producing my own songs at 16. From there I reached out to artists, as A-list artists and producers reached out to me. At 17 I found out I would be a father, and I hit a road block in my writing. Then again, I improved my craft tremendously in those 9 months. At 18, my son was born and so was a new me. I had nothing but life to speak on and that was also when I understood, commercial rap wasn't my style. I quit listening to music with words, all radio stations, and only wrote about things I actually experienced first-hand. I found out that writing for fun wasn't as easy as it was before I had real life situations to speak on. Now 21, my son 2 years old, my daughter born December 2018, I have a lot of growing to do. As I have alot to speak on too. I've never been afraid to fail, because that's how you succeed. I'm determined to spread my message, and I'm prepared to make the best of my journey in all aspects. And I'll never forget, your thoughts will manifest, and the best revenge is SUCCESS!Have you performed in front of an audience?Golden Thyme Cafe & Swagghop Records.
