Started rapping for fun at a young age, but never took it seriously until he was drafted into the christian rap group, Soldiers For Christ, alongside his cousins Justin Price (Yung Sauce), and Keyan (Lil Kieze). YL then formed his own group with co-worker Carlton (C Money) and fellow SFC member Lil Kieze, called S.T.R.E.E.T.Z, which stands for Still Trappin Regardless of Everyone Envyin The STREET(Z). While still rapping occasionaly with S.T.R.E.E.T.Z., YL was heard by New Breed Rapper Michael Paul (Lil Mike) and then pursued to do a track with the group. The chemistry was so well between the artists that YL eventually became an official member of New Breed. He made his debut on Lil Mike's solo mixtape "Hold My Own" appearing on two tracks. He then felt that he wanted to try to get his name out there so he began work on his own project, originally called "Rookie Of The Year / Presidential Buc", which was supposed to be a collaboration cd between YL and fellow New Breed member Keef Buc. But after much deliberation it was decided that YL finish the cd on his own. Rookie Of The Year was in released June 2007. YL is back in the studio working with friend/producer Richard "Rated-R" Taylor to produce his next full-length mixtape due to be released in the summer of 2008.Your musical influences
