Band/artist history
I discovered at about age 10 or 11 that I could interpret on assorted instruments what my ears told me was happenin'. I started to hear the music separate into drums, basslines, guitars, horns, ect.. I never had a lotta $$$$$ or parents with $$$ so I made due with what I had. I also like spraypaint so I would teeter between those two. I would be obsessed with makin' music one minute, then addicted to paintin' the next. I've never been given the opportunity to make a break in either but good stuff cracks every once in awhile. Anyway I taught myself guitar and bass, got bored with that and messed with drum machines; mostly cheap beat boxes. I picked up turntables, 'cause that gave me more control over various instruments, learned mixin and scratchin', from there became insane with snatchin' samples. Had to get an MPC so I could arrange things and a synth so I could ice the cake. I've done shows. Not a ton but enough to run into and learn live situations. I've spun a couple a handfulls of gigs in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Philly, Brooklyn, and other spots less known. Mostly hip hop or drum n bass. I tend to keep my dj'in and beat makin' seperate. I never was keen on usin' the internet to get known. I'm down for whatever though. I'm at the point that if this doesn't crack, I may just give it up. I don't have time or resources to do things on foot anymore. The hip hop scene in PGH has always struggled and if you're not in the circle of like, 20 people, it just doesn't happen here for you.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I'm partial to live shows wherever.
Your musical influences
I'm influenced by masters of each genre. Like with heavy metal, you have Pantera, Metallica, or even Obituary; Full throttle. With blues or jazz, I'm diggin' Sun-Ra, Earl Hines, or any Blue Note artist. Classical is classic. Hip Hop is supreme. Blackstar to Gravediggas. There's too many influences here. Mostly east coast boom bap.
What equipment do you use?
Whatever it takes.
