We both retired from playing in dance bands after many years, and formed a more mellow and appropriate act for our senior years. Now we sing and play acoustic guitar and acoustic bass as a duo.
Don played lead guitar in bay area dance bands for over 50 years.
Doug played bass guitar in Northwest bands, also for more than 50 years.
We met after we both retired, and Don and his wife moved to Spokane. We both wanted to continue performing, but in a more relaxed format without big amps, loud PAs, heavy lifting and... drummers. Thus, our duo was born.
Over 100 years between us, playing in bands since the 1960s.
We have both played hundreds of songs over the years, and know many of the same ones. We started the duo playing classics that we both knew, and have expanded into some really nice music that probably wouldn't have been dance-band material.
Don plays a Maton acoustic guitar and a Fender ukulele.
Doug is using an Ovation "Applause" acoustic bass guitar.
Our compact set-up is a 2-channel Fender "Acoustasonic" amp for guitar and vocals and a Phil Jones "Briefcase" portable bass amp. We both have big amps and PA gear for larger and outdoor events as needed.
These days we play mostly for our love of music.
We book small private events & clubs, as well as volunteering to play free concerts for area seniors. Contact us through our website TwoGreyCats.com
