Twice Da Pain
We were a bilingual hip hop trio of brothers rapping in both English and Spanish. Originally JoJo's idea with Frankie Diesel and Joey joined soon after. Frankie Diesel is the only member who has still made music recently. The producer Mirakle is still very active in the music scene. Be sure to check him out on IG @producedbymirakle.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Began in 2001. Fell apart, but we have finally gotten back together. Life takes you through unexpected journeys. Our first song which is posted was inspired by our mother. She got diagnosed with cancer and we started reflecting on the way we had treated her prior to that. We didn't show her the love and appreciation she deserved and we expressed that in the song. Sadly our mother passed away 1 week before thanksgiving. She didn't get to hear the song. It tore me to pieces. Frankie Diesel starts the song off with the first verse in very choppy Spanish and a little English. I (JoJo) do the 2nd and 3rd verses in all Spanish. My boy Mirakle produced the track and he does the hook.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
A couple years ago we had one performance for a local contest. It was the C.A.N. or Community Arts Network. We performed in front of live audience at a Super Wal-mart parking lot on stage. We were really nervous, but we made it through the first round. We were supposed to perform again as round 2 finalists at a different location. We never showed up due to a lack of vehicle and financial struggles. Recently we recorded our first official track. We haven't performed anywhere recently, but we hope to.
Your musical influences
I know ya'll hear this one a lot, but 2Pac was the realest artist. His ability to put the truth in all his songs was a huge inspiration. Everything he wrote came from the heart or experiences he saw other people go through. Mexican artists like Kinto Sol, Frost, Akwid, La Sinfonia, A lighter shade of brown.
What equipment do you use?
A friend makes the tracks for us using Reason. We have an Akai 400 keyboard, Cubase to record.
