The Tucson Messengers have been classified as a Christian Country and Southern Gospel group. They are much more than that. Their music would appeal any Christian that enjoys music with that down home flavor.
That is not to say that their music is not country. It is. It is the music that you would hear in any country church in the United States no matter the location. They just do the music in such a way that it will fit in any Christian church in the world.
The Tucson Messengers began their ministry in Music in 1968 with Marojean Tatman as the founder. Marojean started her music ministry at two years of age with The Kline Family. Her gift for hearing each individual part and note making sure the harmony was exactly in place was uncanny. Though she died in 2011, those in the group say that if they make a mistake in practice, they still can hear her "Now, you know that!" or "That is not the note."
To The Tucson Messengers, a performance is not just entertainment but a Ministry in Music that is entertaining and uplifting. Each song is chosen to be a mini-sermon set to music and the performance is designed to wrap all of the mini-sermons into one larger sermon of the joyous Gospel of the Lord and to Glorify the Lord through the presentation of His Word through music.
Though they have received numerous awards for their recordings, that is not the thrust of their performances. They are called to a ministry through music.
Their CD's and tapes are designed with the same thought in mind, to Glorify the Lord through the presentation of His Word through music and to present the joyous Gospel of the Lord. They do that but they entertain and uplift as well.
