Once upon a time a collective of like minded individuals decided they would try to combine two aggressively different types of music into a new genre. The two distinct styles were known colloquially as Shoegaze (characterised by an ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume,) and Trap (typified by double or triple-time sub-divided hi-hats, heavy kick drums from the Roland TR-808 drum machine, layered synthesizers and an overall dark, ominous or bleak atmosphere.) The combination seemed obvious to this collective based on the status of these styles within their cultural subsets, both being somewhat isolationist while maintaining a veneer of darkened dusted shimmer that tends to attract introverts who simultaneously crave connection and yearn for everyone to just leave them the fuck alone. This genre became known as Trap Gaze, christened after the collective name of those who created the style. Not much is known about this collective, though it is now believed to be less of a group of persons/people and more just one person/person. However, it is unlikely that this mystery will ever be resolved until the classified documents are released to the public on April 30 2027, the night of Walpurgisnacht, the evening the witches hold revels with the devil on far flung German mountaintops.Have you performed in front of an audience?Fuck people.
