Band/artist history
Torrent Vaccine is an electronic solo operation out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, brought to life by Brad Vaccine after moving there in 1998. Growing up in rural Louisiana, Brad was continuously searching for ways to pass the time. This eventually led to an interest in music and writing his own was a natural progression. While searching for new forms of expression he was introduced to industrial music. Never having heard anything like this, it quickly became a part of his personality. This new acquaintance convinced Brad to begin his exploration into electronic sound design. Interested in the voyeuristic and confrontational ways that the world around him interacted, Brad was inspired. In a harsh celebration of sound through life and experience, Torrent Vaccine took form. Starting out as pure experimentation, a DIY demo tilted “Somewhere in Between” was selectively handed out in 2001. Following that was “distort = kewl” a more polished EP sold in Louisiana and on tours supporting Stromkern and Cut Rate Box. This release has been described as atmospheric, desolate, aggressive, vibrant, creative, confident, controlled, and subjective. Without committing to a defined style, Torrent Vaccine has left room to expand into different scenes while still maintaining the idea of “industrial” music and his individualism. Taking part in the southern underground, Torrent Vaccine has shared the stage with Assemblage 23, Bella Morte, Bile, Bozo Porno Circus, Chris Connelly, Cut Rate Box, Cyanotic, Defragmentation, Dope, Hanzel und Gretyl, Helltrash, Infinite Motion, Jenifer Mclaren, Meg Lee Chin, More Machine Than Man, My life with the thrill kill kult, Nocturne, Pigface, Pitbull Daycare, Professional Murder Music, Sheep On Drugs, Slick Idiot, Stromkern, Tubring, Voodou, Zeromancer, and VNV Nation. After positioning himself as a strong supporting act and hosting a successful club night in his region, Brad was experienced enough to give Torrent Vaccine the push it deserved. More driven than ever he considered starting a label for himself but abandoned the effort deciding it would take away from his creativity. In early 2008 Bit Riot Records appeared on Torrent Vaccine's radar. After proving they had the energy, goals, personal attention and respect that he was looking for, Torrent Vaccine signed on to release his first full length via Bit Riot Records. A collaboration between Brad and Jeff Dodson of de-fragmentation, "Tentative Response" was released in the summer of 2008.
