"Twenty-five years old, no kids, no wife. Two loves, making money, studio wreck mics." That's a self description of the newest MC on the scene from Franklin, LA known simply as Dame. He proclaims that in no way he is a rapper, but a lyricist, which cant be more evident that on his debut mixtape "The Demo" which is coming soon, which as he calls it is, "Lyrical with a southern twist." While being a virtual newcomer, he's been flirting with the idea of being an MC for some time now. He recorded his first song at 20 with his then 13 year old brother, D-Boy, and friend J-Slimm. That was his first time writing or recording hip hop but would definately not be the last. Originally an R&B singer, producer, and songwriter in a group named Luxury, he gave up singing as the group disbanded due to "drastic changes in my voice." "It got real deep and I couldnt control it, so I decided to give the singing a rest and stick to writing and producing." Years later the name of his R&B group would be the inspiration for his upstart production company, Luxury Recordings & Productions. His mixtape "The Demo" will be relased under the Luxury, Platinum Status, and the Darkside Ent. imprint, in which he is also highly involved. His brother, D-Boy, CEO of Darkside Ent. has released two mixtapes under the Darskide imprint, "Next To Blow" and "D.B.O.Y. (Destruction By One Youngsta)", both featuring Dame. It wasnt until mid-2005 when he met producer Phil "Philly Phil" Hudson, that he felt the urge to want to rhyme. After seeing various other would-be artists recording with Phil everyday, he finally asked to get on a track and the rest is history. Although mostly focusing on perfecting his craft as an MC, he still occasionally ventures off and writes and produces music for other artists as well and laid claims to still having well over 100 songs written waiting for the perfect people to sing them. All in all, as a new artist, producer, songwriter, and businessman, Dame sure has his hands full. But as he so passionately states, "It's in me to do this, I'm from Franklin man. It might be a small town but it's some talented people here. There is no such thing as taking on too much, simply you not working hard enough." I only been doing this for less than a year so I really dont have a history. I was chillin with one of my boys who is into producing and he asked me to get on a song so I wrote something and that was officially the day I started.Have you performed in front of an audience?No live performances yet, unless you wanna change that.
