The Walking Dead Killaz
The Walking Dead Killaz is the group that came before Triple 9. It consisted of Dead Corpse (Xorsist), Miz (Wax), and Heavy. These songs you'll find on here are from 2000-2002, recorded in Heavy's basement. The WDK released over 30 songs on the internet and free cd-r's over 2 years before disbanding.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
WDK began in the late 90's with Xorsist and Wax (then known as Dead Corpse and Miz) who were long time friends, freestyling and handing out tapes to their friends. They shared the same musical tastes such as Natas, Cypress Hill, Outkast, and bands like White Zombie, Korn, and Deftones. Not to mention what bound them as friends such as violent video games and horror movies. Their freestyles were mostly about smoking weed, murder, smoking weed, and Evil Dead. The story evolves after meeting Heavy and his crew at an ICP show in 1999. He had some recording equipment, Cool Edit, and a spot to record and offered to let them drop songs there. After recording a few tracks, Heavy and a cat named Refund would join the Walking Dead (with Killaz being added to the name). Tracks were getting recorded left and right, Refund was booted from the group, and the buzz was rising. 10-15 songs into it they decided to put their material on the internet, ranking #1 on mp3.com for weeks with various songs. As bad as the recording was, and as shitty as Heavy was on the mic, people still dug the material. It was mainly about just recording crazy shit and having fun. They wanted to have a group that was like Wu-Tang, everyone had their own personality, tons of songs whether solo or group getting put out. Even the songs were completely different sounding at times, you never knew if WDK was putting out a horror track, a street track, or something comical. Soon, like most things involved with Wax and Xorsist, WDK began falling apart from within. There was just ultimately too much drama and negativity for all 3 of them to handle and they all decided it was best to go their seperate ways while still continuing to work together on solo projects. In early 2002, while recording solo material for future releases, Heavy closed shop and completely distanced himself from the others. There had been talks in 2005 of reuniting WDK, as well as in 2006, even talks of releasing a compilation of songs that were recorded for free download on myspace. The final nail in the coffin was when Heavy (now living in east Texas), who was in possession of the entire library of Walking Dead music (long story on that), decided he wouldn't make copies of the library (over 3 1/2 hours of music) and again cut off all contact with Triple 9. Now we, Triple 9, give you a few songs to download as we've began uncovering songs on old cd's and friends in the underground community. Rare recordings, we're completely exposed in these tracks from our early years and just have fun listening to Triple 9's Genesis into the music world.
