Temporary Citizen is the eighth CD from The Rick King Project and the first one after a seven year leave of absence. With a mix of heavenly hip-hop and future-synth-pop tunes, as well as a few smooth jazz numbers, he has returned to spread the Gospel to the masses! http://rickkingonline.com/
Band/artist history
Rick was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He was adopted by William and Gloria King. He invited the Lord into his life at the age of 16, in 1982. A short time later, he began a long time relationship with contemporary christian music. In college he became a morning drivetime disc jockey for the college radio station playing the christian rock format. His show was very popular and because of it, he met many of the "superstars" in the christian music scene. Among those who have influenced him were David Meece, Leon Patillo, Mylon Lefever, Bryan Duncan, Petra, Stryper and the Rez Band. It was durring this time that he began to write songs and sing, with his first band, name Emmaus. After moving to Tucson Arizona, he worked for a couple of TV stations and he also continued working in Christian Radio on KGMS, filling the overnight spot for several years. After returning to Cleveland in 1995, he soon reunited with his life partner, mother of his then 8 year old son, and his best friend Diana Valdespino and the two married in October of 1998. During this time he worked for a local music store named Lentine's Music where he remained until the company shutdown in 2007. He had been recording music for a number of years and felt that it was time to share his creations with the rest of the world. In 2000, he created his own record label and called it Only One Way Records, a name that better reflects the guiding force behind all of his music- Jesus Christ. As time went on, he released several CD's as a solo artist, mostly in the pop R&B style. Then in 2006, he decided to focus more on the electro-dance styles that he loved. Recognizing the absence of this type of music in the Contemporary Christian Music scene, he wanted to try and fill the void. his last album was called Mercydeep -Beyond the Here and Now, released in 2007. Now seven years later he is ready to offer another CD this time under his own name titled "Temporary Citizen", simply put it is the 8th CD he has recorded. With catchy pop rap tunes and "Electronic Gospel Music" (EGM) he has also included a few guitar oriented smooth jazz instrumentals, This will mark the return of Rick to the world of music.
