We May Have Been Drunk We May Have Been Drunk
It started as a balls out need for The Heavy and 12 years of dusty lyrics and riff ideas. We started out slow and small, and had at the decks relentlessly for the better part of a year. A small lineup change and some fast furious quality gigs later ste the stage for the first album to be recorded. After that, the live show became the trademark, and a good time, was sure as hell guaranteed for all!Band/artist history
Elorps - Lead Vocals / Rhthym Guitar
Mikey Bastard - Lead Guitar/ Backing vocals
Davey Wasted - Drums / backing vocals
Dr.Rockstar - Bass
From the ashes of Hail Damage, a three piece creative unit, Elorps put together The Press Gang to write and play a more aggressive, raw, style kind of music than what was available in his previous band. Recruiting Davey Wasted and Glen Murdock from the now defunct punk band, The Inhalers, he brought along ex Hail Damage bass player Dave McLeod to play guitar and soon set upon playing 3 quick songs that were written to be heavy and basic. Dave unfortunately didn't the bill, so Mikey Bastard was asked to sit in on a jam to see if he could add anything to the mix, and the first solid lineup was pretty much born there and then. The band kept at 'er until it was decided a demo should be recorded to produce and sell at shows to help generate interest and income to fund the first full length album. Unbenknownst to the band, the sound guy at The Stetson, James Peech, pressed reco4rd during one of their more entertaining gigs, and thus was born "Warts and All: Live at The Stetson".
The Press Gang is the first band to release a live recording from this venue. SO, now armed with a Demo EP and a full length Live album, the band made some killer merchandise, and rounded out their live experience with constant practicing, and a love for playing live.
About a year into the bands history, Glen Murdoch decided it was best if he left the band to maintain friendships and pursue other avenues of music. This set the band back financially and left them without a bass player. Sooner than later, Samson Nand / Dr.Rockstar was enlisted as the new bass player with only 3 weeks till the recording date of the first full length album. Luckily, the lads managed to gig enough to raise the coin to fund the album.
The album is set for release late 2008/Early 2009 once more coin is raised to have it actually manufactured for sale at shows and hopefully at music stores.
New material is constantly being written to augment their classic lineup of songs. Soon, enough material will be ready for a second full length, or an EP. They just keep playing live and getting more people into their brand of The Heavy....Go to a live show and see what it's all about.Have you performed in front of an audience? We play live ALL the time. We love it, we live for it, and any night when someone buys the band drinks is a special night for us.
