These recordings are from a reel to reel tapes that David Hall gave to his uncle, Eric Hall (See "Happy Harmonies" on soundclick). They were taken from the master tapes that produced the album, "Ship Ahoy". Eric Hall was my grandfather who gave the tapes to myself ("Peter Hall" on soundclick)
Band/artist history
Ron & Ray Jackson were cousins from the USA. Danny Burkett was also an American who was a brilliant keyboard player and producer. He also had a vast musical knowledge. Most of the arrangements are his. David Hall (a cousin of myself) lives in Adelaide in Australia. The four men attended the same bible college and church in Melbourne at the time. They recorded a few albums. Another album recorded in the USA later had a more modern sound at the time. However, the American label demanded more musical input and added session musicians. The Firerands demanded that Burkett be the keyboard player and the American label relented.
Your musical influences
They were influenced by Southern Gospel, hymns and the gospel music at the time. This is heard by the quartet style of singing.
