Tha Menu is comprised of siblings Stephen(24) & Lydia(22) Phifer. Although they have been singing and rapping together for most of their lives they didn't decide to persue a career in music until 2004. Their name reflects their eclectic sound ( its like a menu of music)and their vow to make sure their lyrical contenet is always brain food in one way or another. Growing up in the church as PK's (Preacher's Kids) has played a major role in helping develop Stephen and Lydia into the Young Man and Young Woman of God that they are today. They treat their music like a personal diary believing that this is the best way to make their music relatable to their audience. Both have been trained since a young age to be natural ENTERTAINERS and it comes across in their live shows. Although Tha Menu's main focuss is Generation Y they do have somthing for everyone with songs that cross genres from Hip Hop, Soul, blues, R n B, jazz, and rock to progeressive and experimental tracks that can't really be defined by one genre. Tha Menu is quickly earning a reputation for their bold content, unique sound, and stylish swagger in their hometown of Atlantic City, NJ and all over the TRI-STATE AREA. Their newest project called "PK Diaries" will be their first OFFICIAL release. Tha Menu are proud members of GEN GENIUS INC.!!!!!!!!!!
Tha Menu's live show is second to none! The common response among every crowd is that Tha Menu is so entertaining they should have their own TV show or Broadway production!! And the Gen Genius Inc. band is amazing!!
Nowadays they don't listen to alot of people because theydon't want to unintentionally start sounding like anyone else. But they grew up on mostly contemporary gospel music like Commissioned, The Winans Family, John P. Kee, Hezekiah Walker, The Clark Sisters, etc. When they got older Steffin really got into ALL forms of music ranging from Jay-Z to Queen. Lydia really got into RnB royalty like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blidge. But Nowadays they listen to themselves and thats about it (with a few acceptions like Steffin's favoritew artist TON3X and Lydia's new appreciation for Jazmine Sullivan's music. And of course they NEVER stopped listening to all forms of GOSPEL because it serve bigger purpose than just entertainment!
