Teamug is an artist from Finland, focused on making instrumental metal for the sake of enjoying the process. The songs feature various styles of metal and alternating elements ranging from happy to dark and aggressive. It might prove difficult to categorise the pieces into just one genre of metal and in this case, it just might be a good thing. The songs are created without restrictions but could be described as melodic metal and progressive metal. Some pieces are more straightforward and easier to comprehend right from the start. Some songs on the other hand might be overwhelming at first due to their unorthodox structure.
The tracks are currently planned to stay instrumental in the future as well, despite the likely downside being that it's not as easy to gain visibility that way. However, Teamug emphasizes that the songs are aimed to show creativity and the passion behind them.
I started making metal music about 10 years ago. It all comes down to just me having fun and enjoying what I do and I intend to keep it that way. Stable artistic freedom especially in this kind of music is very important for me, personally. I publish my songs for fun, there is a certain listener group that enjoys what I do, so I'm just trying to make my tracks more accessible. It's certainly not always easy!
I have performed in front of small audiences. I have performed playing drums, but not yet with guitar however.
Biggest influences for me that subcounciously seem to alter my compositions: Dream Theater, Symphony X, Children of Bodom, Dawn of Relic, Amaranthe, Carcass, Octathorn, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Sybreed & various videogame soundtracks.
I use "Cakewalk by Bandlab" to write and record all my songs. I play and record all my guitars and use midi otherwise. Some day I might get even more serious, but now everything I do is for my own passion towards metal music.
The goal for next year is to gain one or two fans that appreciate the music I compose. That would mean the world to me, because that means they liked something I truly created without filters.
