TABU (THE BOOSTER) BIOGRAPHY
Adrian Taylor (Aka Tabu) came into the world during a time when hip
hop was born. Dayton, Ohio was a breeding ground of creative
influences. The Ohio Players, Slave, LakeSide, HeatWave, Roger
Trotman and Zapp were making their mark in music history. His father
had formed the group Champaign and before Adrian had taken his first
steps he was introduced to the world of music by going with his dad
into recording studio's and rehearsals. Eventually his parent's
separated and he was forced to grow up without a father in the home.
This enabled him to make a lot of his own decisions, some of which
got him into a lot of trouble. It was then that he took on the persona of “Tabu”.
The family moved to Alabama where he started living that street life and approached life on his own terms. Never forgetting his musical roots, he used his lyrics as weapon's and hip hop as the vehicle to gain respect from his peers.
His reputation as the next "Big thing" began to cross state lines into
Georgia and Florida. At sixteen, his father was to send for him to
record at his studio in Los Angeles.Tabu knew that this was his time
to shine, but was disappointed to discover that his dad had gotten
hooked on drugs and could not keep his word to him. Tabu took matters
into his own hands. He decided to sell drugs to get the money needed
for studio time, but it was seemingly the wrong move as he spent five
years in state prison for that decision.
Tabu will be the first to tell you that everything happens for a
reason. He has no regrets. He knew that if any one of his life
changing experiences would not have happened, such as spending time in prison he would not have become who he is, Tabu. The next big
thing from the "Dirty South".
Tabu lives in Montgomery, Alabama. He has made numerous trips to Los
Angeles where he has been recording songs with producers J.Classic and Robert (Fastrak) Waters with his father by his side. The mixture of Tabu's southern flow with Classic's west coast beats is the perfect marriage for where hip-hop is headed in the near future.
Tabu recently signed a production deal with NBA star Baron Davis’s “Too Easy Entertainment” who is providing the foundation to build his legacy upon. “Boom Dizzle” believed from the beginning for he knows what it takes to be the best.
This hybrid of south meeting west, along with Tabu's unique style and
his natural gift of articulating the realness of his life is the formula for his success. The stage is set. All the elements are in place. The chemistry is perfect. The time is now for a new star to be introduced into the universe, and his name is "TABU" (The Booster)
