Sweet Joni
I am a singer/songwriter who enjoys acoustic/gospel/blues/rock/folk music. Writing, singing and playing my guitars has been a real tonic my soul and a great discovery in terms of personal satisfaction.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I have been playing (acoustic, lead, rhythm, bass) for three decades and writing for the past 2 or 3 years. I also play bass in a local band called the Perennials whic does mostly 60s/ through to 90s cover versions.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I live in an obscure part of the NE of England called Berwick-upon-Tweed next to the Scottish Border. It's in the forgotten kingdom of Northumberland that was once the centre of Britain and the place where Christianity first established itself in the UK.
Your musical influences
I enjoy many forms of music. I love bands like Embrace and singers like James Blunt and Kate Rusby. I also think the Red Hot Chillis, Stereophonis and the Killers (Indie Rock and Roll has got to be the best track of its genre ever).
Anything else?
I play a Larrivee Acoustic and Fender Jazz bass. I also have my own home recording studio (I use Cubase).
