Steel Gypsy
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The band was formed when guitarist Mark Shrider and vocalist Nikki Stone got together to write some metal tunes. After many nights of drinking, jamming, and more drinking many of the songs we still play today were born. The line up was completed in January of 2008 when drummer Chris Wylie and bassist Shawn Clarson were recruited to fill in the rhythm section. Ever since then we have been focused on playing shows and getting our music out to the public.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play shows all over Central Florida including shows in Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, and Gainesville. Steel Gypsy is primarily a live band so of course we like playing out and we've definitely had our share of special moments although many of them we can't remember.
Your musical influences
The unique thing about Steel Gypsy is all of our members listen to a wide variety of music. While our influences are primarily metal such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera, Black Label Society, and many more we listen to everything from classic rock to death metal to blues to country to jazz to even classical. So no musical style is off limits for us.
