Sonidos del Barrio

Sonidos del Barrio: Una Mezcla de Rock y Reggaeton con el ritmo de Cumbia Corpus Christi band fuses Latin-style beats with the rhythms of modern rock CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS ? Sonidos del Barrio (SdB) is not your average Latin Rock band. Coming straight from the barrios of Casa Blanca in Robstown, Texas, these Chicanos give a unique twist to their music, fusing sounds from both sides of the border. The band grew up in South Texas near Alice, the birthplace of Tejano music (a style of traditional Mexican conjunto), and Corpus Christi, where many Latin stars got their start thanks to famed producer Abraham Quintanilla, father of slain Tejano star Selena and Kumbia Kingz/Kumbia All-Starz frontman AB . Wanting to stay true to their roots, the band came up with a fresh new take to the music they grew up with. Their sound?a mixture of cumbia, rock and reggaeton?combines danceable Latin beats with in-your-face rock. Comprised of former members of Corpus Christi?s Latin Rock powerhouse Victima?band members J-Blast (voice, keys, accordion, beat, guitar, samples and producer), Gabe Gonzales (lead guitar), G-Sanch (bass), Daniel Velasquez (percussion), and Robert Montes (drums) came together in mid 2008 to form Sonidos del Barrio. That year, the band launched two songs, ?Tu Eres? and ?Mi Cumbia? on Myspace and has since garnered a loyal fan-base throughout the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
