Normally, when beginning a new tune, either mine or an arrangement, I play the melody on my guitars, eventually adding some bass notes and flourish, until I have a good feel for the piece, then I take it to the keyboard and continue to work on the arrangement.
Your musical influences
Favorite artists who may or may not have influenced my music, I like Kitaro, Suzanne Ciani, Yanni, Tangerine Dream, David Russell, Christopher Parkening, Lang Lang - to name a few, and then there's all those hymns I've listened to in churches. Classical music - I could listen to Classical music 24/7/365. And Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album, when I first heard that many years ago, I was hooked on synthesizers. And "Hearts of Space" when it was on the PBS station just deepened my love for mellower electronic music.
What equipment do you use?
I have three guitars, a classical, 6 string acoustic and a 12 string, a couple keyboards, various synths, and the odd instrument that I may use, harmonica, tambourine, recorder, I'm constantly collecting new instruments and studying them.
