From humble beginnings, SOFIA J impacted her world through music. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, her 2nd story apartment window was her impromptu stage. With just a karaoke machine and a microphone, she belted out powerful renditions of Aretha Franklin, Madonna and Mariah Carey to the unsuspecting public below.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Deemed an undeniable talent at a young age, SOFIA J left her New York City home to attend college in Nashville, with great things ahead. After touring more than 35 states and having huge success with independent albums, she signed a major record contract with WORD/EPIC, the largest Gospel record label. She released a record and toured for several years as a full time artist, where more than 100,000 fans witnessed her gift of music. SOFIA J’s captivating voice and stage presence soon filtered into the world of pop and soul, bringing her back to her roots-New York City. Fast-forward to the present- with many successes in the pop world including a gold record, SOFIA J is not satisfied, and is hungry for more. Her new release-full of POSITVE PEPPY POP is already gaining rave reviews and being blasted all over the most popular TV shows like "Gossip Girl", "One Tree Hill" and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." Her song "Do You Believe in Me Now" is the also the theme song for MTV's MADE!
