Small Wonder Experience
The Small Wonder Experience was started in 2011 by Leslie Mariah Andrews, Tara Young and Leanka Harris Kaanoi. We were named after a favorite TV show of Mariah's and Leanka's and after Jimi Hendrix. We specialize in multiple genres from folk to hard rock.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
From the start:
Rivervixen was a one-woman band primarily, the brainchild of Leslie Mariah Andrews. The Small Wonder Experience was the proposed name of a non-musical website (circa 2003) devoted to the 1980s TV sitcom that never got launched. The name itself was shelved until it was suddenly suggested during an Open Mic night as a temporary billing for a backing band. In September 2011, the band settled on the Small Wonder Experience name permanently. Tara, Leanka and the Thom Cat became permanent members.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
SWE is based out of Joshua Tree, California. We have the blessing from two cast members of the original Small Wonder TV show.
