Sir Jay
Sir Jay, who's birth given name is Jean-Bertrand Desrosier, was born of haitian heritage on February 27th 1985 in Montreal, Quebec. Fourth born of seven children, he is part of a family who shares a love and taste for music. However, it is at 15 years old, in a friend's basement, that Sir Jay composed his very first lines and started rapping on american records. The aspiring artist promptly found himself on another path leading him to reggae and forthwith, specialized himself in this musical style.
In 2005, Sir Jay released his first mixtape "Heavy Target vol.1" . The following, includes 15 songs, most of them in english, featuring other artists. He received a nomination in the "Best Reggae Artist" category at the Urban Music Gala (UM) 2006 for the release. In 2006, the already growing talent, produces the maxi "Heavy Duet" unitedly with R&B singer Marokia. This second project will be worthy of an award at the 2007 UM Gala Edition.
These two accomplishments enabled him to gain a lot of experience, while building a solid reputation that will from this time on, follow him. Thus, music lovers could have catched a glimpse of him in different shows, festivals or contests through all over Quebec and Ontario. His unique style, that can be discerned on different music arrangements, as many in french, english or creole, is expressed on dancehall and roots tunes, with a little carribean touch that got the crowds grooving. Nicknamed "Ladies Man" after his exceptionaly charming personality and his girl-serenading songs, Sir Jay admits loving to see them dancing on his entrancing rythms. He will however not content himself of pleasing the opposite sex, but is looking foward to inspiring people to be aware of society problems.
Djs from around the world play Sir Jay's songs in the clubs to get the crowds dancing. His tunes can be found on several collaborations here and there, as well as on european, american and asian musical compilations. His music appeared several times on World Wide Websites charts.
