Simple Melody is a Jazz/Swing Group started in 2008 by two clarinetists from Newington High School and a bass player. Although we've added a drummer and pianist for live performances we like keeping it simple (hence the name) and staying with the 3 of us on the recording
Band/artist history
Simple Melody was started by two clarinetists and a bass player prior to the Newington High School Variety show in October of 2008. Playing what has become our signature song of late, "it don't meen a thing' the band received great reviews in the show that included other local area band sensation '4 guys and a dumpster'. The band went dormant for most of December and January before getting back together to play at a benefit concert. There they began recording there songs, starting with a crudely done and rushed version of 'it don't meen a thing for the audition for the show.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play live mostly, due to a recent purchases of some recording equipment we've been able to start recording our songs.
Your musical influences
Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Louis Armstrong were big jazz influences
What equipment do you use?
For recording we use Audacity, TJ plays an R-13 Buffet Clarinet, Kai-Dee an E-11 Buffet Clarinet.
