Reekz Beatz

Young and emerging artist going by the moniker Reekoh, Ive been producing for 5 years and engineering for 3. Moving between Southern California and Minnesota for most of my life has helped me gain a unique sound. Infusing the influence of producers from Kanye to Zaythoven, and Boi 1-Da to Terrace Martin, I work on everything from Trap, to classic South tracks, Anthems, R&B, Club Bangas, New West, and about any other sound an artist wants.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I grew up surrounded by music. Everyone around me was involved in it someway at sometime. I was always a decent student in school, was able to easily keep a B average without really trying too hard. My problem was school was too boring, too simple, and my interest was everywhere else like the house parties, the streets, and everything that comes with it. By the age of 18 I had my first daughter and started trying to focus my energy on music instead of the streets and dealing to make money.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I've ben performing on stages with other artists since 15 and I've loved it since. First time performing on stage was in 2005 at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA. As of now there's more studio work going in, but I'm looking to begin doing shows again later in the year.
Your musical influences
My musical influences come from everything I've ever heard. Influence isn't really something that I looked for, It just happens when i hear music that hits me. I grew up listening to my Grandparents music at very young age such as Ms. Etta James, The Temptations, and more from that era. As i got older I started finding music on my own. I could hear 2 Live Crew and say ' Damn thats a dope kick' or play Kenny Chesney and be like 'Wow, that lead guitar is really wailing..' It all just comes down to do i feel their music like i want people to feel mine.
What equipment do you use?
I keep my workstation basic because I like to work on the go. I use a Windows 8 HP Latop and a small Korg midi controller I can all fit in a bag. I do my production and mixing all in FL Studio 11, and as far as recording I can work on most programs from Sony ACID to ProTools.
Anything else?
Right now im working on doing a lot of new production before i step back into the studio to work on my own projects. Im also working on mixing and mastering some people's projects as well, so if anyone wants, or needs, some studio work can reach me through email. officialreekz@gmail.com
