Rew is one of the hardest working artists Ive ever met, and her intense personality is matched only by her music. She is an artist not to be missed, or messed with! -Dave Cool, Director, What is INDIE?
Band/artist history
Rew review by Bee So unique is Rew its a wonder that she isnt already signed and making millions Kisho (Pussy Rock entertainment) My first experience with Rew was on stage at Bar 169 in 3/06. I was asked to sit in with her from a friendly email I had sent to her. While on stage in addition to watching her left hand like a hawk for chord changes, I couldnt help but listen to what was going on. There was a sound that I searched to recognize, I heard the sound before but couldnt quite put my finger on it. It was a sound so familiar yet I was lost in its search. It wasnt until I received a DVD from her cousin Alan and began to play it over and over to learn my parts that I had realized what it was that I heard that night. It was magic! Rews voice brought back times of innocence. There was such a vulnerability to her lyrics I couldnt help but get caught up in the unfolding of her 3 min. confessions. Luv U in particular left me breathless as if I just said goodbye to such a heartfelt emotion that I wondered if I would ever experience it again. Skeletonz as so appropriately put they come out every time I think Ive lost them it startled me to hear such openness in a public venue. Its that whats supposed to happen when cool music and great lyrics come together. You get to hear whats in Rews heart and soul. You leave not only the venue but you feel as if youre leaving a friend or greater still, you feel as if youre leaving a piece of your heart behind. Its been so long since all the right combinations like that have come together. Some artists that come to mind are the great ones only, Lennon, Dylan, Reed. There is also a pop sensibility that Rew brings. If not, well then you couldnt rock to it could you? The songs are upbeat with classic riffs and timeless rhythms. Its like hearing Blondie meets the Stones with Reed/Dylan lyrics. Finally not to take away from all of the above mentioned. It doesnt hurt that Rew is a very attractive and seductive woman. She delivers her music and message in a sexy and sultry way. Visually she stirs your imagination to almost a point of embarrassment (depending on the type of person you are I suppose). Her timeless beauty, revered innocence along with her direct and bold approach reminds you of a love child of a threesome including Betty Boop, Joan Jett and Lou Reed. A unique combination of purity with the street savvy that one can only get being born and bread in the greatest city in the world, New York. That is why Rew is truly the Jewel of NYC. As if Rew didnt already have enough going in her favor, she struck gold or shall I say RewBees when she recruited fellow songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire Bee aka Bob Kuch. Bee stings you with precision riffs and heartfelt melodies. Together as the songwriting team called RewBee, they are quickly creating a buzz, so to speak in the New York City local scene.
