Ray Gilman Bio Ray Gilman: A veteran of the Twin Cities Music scene, Ray has recorded 8 CD's, played over a thousand of live shows, and produced CD's for other artists in his own recording studio. A multi instrumentalist Ray sings, plays acoustic and electric guitars, and keyboards to give Gilman's Crossing a very large sound. Gilman's Crossing is influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Tool, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, to name a few. Ray's has opened for Eric Burdon, Corey Stevens, and Performed live on Kare 11 Television (NBC) in Minneapolis. Gilman's Crossing was featured on KMSP 9 (UPN) on the Buzz program. And also won the Garage Logic bumper band contest and got to perform live on AM 1500 radio at the 2000 Minnesota State Fair. Ray has recently released a new solo CD "Over Time".
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I play live regularly with my band Gilman's Crossing and as a Solo Performer . We are a regional act in the upper Midwest USA.
Your musical influences
I like all styles of music. If it is done well, and from the heart. Music brings people of all races and cultures together. I am heavily influenced by British bands from the 70's. Guitar greats like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Robin Trower. Todd Rundgren has had a big impact on my music. Rush is one of my favorite bands of all time, Yes, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Muddy Waters, Weather Report, Jethro Tull.
What equipment do you use?
I use Pro Tools, a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 amp. Fulltone, Voodoo Lab and MXR pedals, Gibson SG and Les Paul guitars, Fender Stratocaster guitar, Yamaha mixers, Ovation 12 string acoustic guitar, Dean 6 string acoustic, Carvin elctric guitar, Roland keyboard, 6, BOSE L1 Model 2 systems.
