R. Davila
R. Davila (formerly amw) is a solo project of electronic music. The tracks are audio-tangible expressions of nostalgia, memories, colors, moods, and thoughts.
Much of my music revolves around finding the Infinite, the Beautiful, the Divine in the mundane world in which we live, surrounded by technology, scientific advancements, corporate buildings, populated by souls sapped of life because of excess entertainment and consumption.
The semi-long public bus rides to college every day back in 2002 to 2004 in beautiful sunny and rainy days of South Florida really affected me deeply on many levels: creatively, religiously and philosophically. I owe to those bus rides and relationships with my artistically-oriented friends the inspirations that came about in my creations of "Mothmien" and "Sleepy Stormy".Band/artist history
- I began making electronic music since 2000 and I've made 6 "albums," with an album's worth of b-sides, though not under some label.
- I'm taking a break from 2005-2010 to focus on my studies, but I will inevitably return to music composition. More likely than not, any new music I make will be quite moody and experimentally technical, due to my newfound love for Messiaen, Murcof, and Tristan Murail.Have you performed in front of an audience?I only play dead. I like it, very much, yes.
Your musical influences
Claude Debussy, a french impressionist composer, is a important influence that affected my thinking of critical music composition. Outside classical music, Sneaker Pimps, Plaid, Boards of Canada, Matmos, Anja Garbarek and videogames are some of my influences. What equipment do you use?
Reason, Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1, WavelabAnything else?
I'd like to apply my musical inspirations to a band."Dianoia" rulez!
Phrulex was here :o)I know this is a long shot, but I have to try:
I have song (“Yah Yah”) that is being played on two of your local radio stations. If you can find ANY time to call and request “YAH YAH” by ManHood on Ichiban Records, well… I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate it – FOR REAL!
Power 96 FM (Miami): (305)653-6796
WEDR (Miami): (866)991-5269
THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE!I'm glad you liked the Walking Leafs and P.o.S.
The songs are laid back because they naturally represent who I am.
Mr. Winters is the human condition of being ignorant, arrogant and being sort of like "the grinch", usually these people are too prideful to admit they THINK they know it all but in fact they are foolish (http://cbh.gospelcom.net/keys/keys_7.php?ifpKeyID=4410).
I'll be doing my official website soon that will explain some things about the songs and it will have clips of new songs I'm currently working on.I like the way most of your music has that "laid back" feel to it. Very cool. Songs like Prince of Sonoras and the Walking Leafs are very nice to listen to.
By any chance, do you play Earthbound? It appears to me that much of the laid back feel to that game is played out through your music. *especially Mr Winters, I really like that, definitely for a fan of the game. All comments (6)
