Ponce (NYC)
Ponce is a rapper.
Band/artist history
The Brooklyn native Ponce (Cristobal Velez) was raised in the then Puerto Rican neighborhood to Sunset Park. He has since relocated to Virginia where he attends college at George Mason University. There he finally started recording music. He was embroiled in a feud with local fraternity, Theta Chi, and released two diss tracks towards them; "President's Park" and "President's Park (Fuck Theata Chi Remix)". The beef has since been squashed. Recently, Ponce has been in an altercation with duo from Room 202 in TAP building 9.
Other than rapping, Ponce is co-CEO of Manhattan Project Records (formerly known as Big Money Records) and is the founder of their off shoot brand, Latin American Xchange Records which is made up of two other Latin born rappers. He is also involved in Mason Records (another off shoot of MPR) which is more experimental but is run by other MPR co-CEO M. Sheezy.
Ponce recognizes that he'll probably never been signed, and that sits well with him. After all, this is just a passion and he's doing this for fun.
